| OK, this is STALIN WORLD!!!! When the Soviets left Lithuania, the locals wanted to get rid of the statues, and some enterprising guy bought them all and made a Soviet theme park/Museum. This is truly unique, and very interesting. |

| A prerequisite for being a Soviet was a scowling expression. |

| Trakai Castle, located on an island, not far from Vilnius that some Polish guys directed us too. Really nice spot. |

| On the Curonian Spit (a massive sandune which is shared by Russia), a bizarre stack of crosses in the middle of the Lithuanian Sahara. The eeriness of this place was superb. A couple of km's along is the border to Russian Kaliningrad. Later I walked across the border illegally into Russia, and took a quick toilet break as a sign of my respect to them. |

| Also on the Curonian Spit was the utterly freaky Hill of Witches, where lots of wooden carved evil creatures inhabit a pine forest.

| Let's just put an end to the debate RIGHT HERE AND NOW. Lithuanians have THE most unhealthy food on earth. Witness this, deep fried cheese, lard, and bacon sticks, drenched in garlic mayonaise (above), and bread, deep fried in pig fat, with 6-cheese and mayo sauce drizzled all over it. |

| And it should of course be washed down with 2 litres of 9.5% alc. beer, for a princely some of bugger all... |
| This is what I really wanted to see in Lithuania, a national place of pilgrimage called the Hill of Crosses, near Siaulai. The Soviets bulldozed it a couple of times, but the crosses kept returning. Tens of thousands of the things, some really ornate. Well, if you are going to get obssesive about something, you might as well do it properly. Astonishing...
